IRRIGATION

When it comes to irrigation our strength is our ability to cater to each green individually, with each system being a bespoke design. We always carry out a site survey before we quote for works. This means that the sprinklers, pipe, tanks and pumps installed are suited to the individual clubs needs and not just an off the shelf package.

We design our irrigation systems to cover the green effectively and efficiently. This keeps water costs as low as possible as we ensure that areas off the green are not needlessly being watered and more importantly; not over watering certain areas on the green through poor sprinkler application.

The sheer volume of greens now benefiting from Osprey systems means that we must be doing something right!

FloodlightsFLOODLIGHTS

As the nights draw in, you may find that the time you have to bowl becomes restricted. Osprey is able to install floodlight systems that are aesthetically designed to complement today’s environment. This means that with our help, you can continue bowling from dusk till dawn! Available in a comprehensive range of light sources with high performance photometric including a choice of symmetric, asymmetric and specular narrow beam reflector versions.

RAIN HARVESTING & RAIN MANAGEMENT

As water becomes an increasingly valuable resource, more and more of our customers ask about rain water harvesting. Incorporating this into your system is not only environmentally friendly; it can also save on your water bills.

Adding in a rain management system can add further benefits; the Hunter Solar-Sync monitors air temperature and precipitation rates, automatically adjusting controller watering – ensuring your green always receives the optimum amount of water.

Ground Works & ConstructionGROUND WORKS & CONSTRUCTION

Our years of experience and expertise within the industry, have enabled us to develop a ground works and construction sector. This means that we can work with you from day one of your project; not just the irrigation system but building and growing in your new green.

ADVICE ON GRANT FUNDING

Over recent years, many of the Bowls Clubs we have worked with have benefited from grant funding. With this in mind we are always happy to advise on possible routes for funding your new project.

NEW INSTALLATION CASE STUDY

JOHNSTOWN BOWLING CLUB, WREXHAM

WHAT WAS THE REQUIREMENT

Johnstown Bowling Club contacted us in 2011 and asked us to provide them with a quotation to install automatic irrigation to their green. The green is surrounded by a tarmac path which would need to be excavated to install the system, Osprey was asked to include a price for upgrading the tarmac pathways alongside the irrigation installation.

WHAT WAS THE SOLUTION

In early January 2012, we were contacted by Eryl Williams (Project Manager). The club had been awarded grant funding from several funding bodies. This enabled them to proceed with both the irrigation project and the upgrade works of the pathways. Works commenced a short time later, on the 25th January taking just over two weeks to complete.

WHAT THE CLIENT THOUGHT

“I found Osprey extremely helpful when designing the system to meet our requirements. The installation works were of a high quality and completed in time for the new season. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Osprey to any clubs considering adding automatic irrigation to their bowling greens.”

Eryl Williams
Project Manager, Johnstown Bowling Club.

WHAT WAS THE RESULT

  • Works completed outside of the season, ensuring no disruption to bowls season.
  • Automatic irrigation meant that hand watering was no longer required.
  • Irrigation and path upgrade works were combined, saving the client both time and money.

SYSTEM UPGRADE CASE STUDY

WINDSOR BOWLING CLUB, CARDIFF

WHAT WAS THE REQUIREMENT

When they contacted us, the irrigation system at Windsor Bowling Club was approximately 25 years old and the sprinklers had not covered the greens for many years. This was because over the years a number of houses had been built in the surrounding area causing a significant drop in the mains water pressure.

WHAT WAS THE SOLUTION

To resolve this problem, Osprey installed a holding tank with a submersible pump. Whilst this still filled from the mains supply, it meant that the system could now run at the higher pressure required to optimize the sprinkler performance.

WHAT THE CLIENT THOUGHT

“I would like to convey our grateful thanks for the very efficient way the work was done and how accommodating you were in meeting our requests. The team of engineers was very easy to work with and the whole Club was very impressed with the upgrade when they saw the system working.”

Alun Daniel
Project Manager, Windsor Bowling Club.
